A Deadly Early Morning Shooting Near Joliet Mall
The community near Joliet is in shock following a fatal early morning shooting that claimed the life of a 31-year-old man near the Louis Joliet Mall area.
According to Joliet Police Department, officers were dispatched around 1:51 a.m. after gunfire was reported near the 3100 block of Voyager Lane. Responding officers later located the victim in the 2900 block of Colorado Avenue suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
Despite emergency medical efforts and transport to Saint Joseph Medical Center, the man was pronounced dead.
Crime Scene Evidence Recovered as Investigation Intensifies
Investigators confirmed that multiple spent shell casings and a handgun were recovered at the scene, along with damage to two unoccupied vehicles and a nearby commercial building.
Police and crime scene units are actively working to reconstruct the events leading up to the shooting, including reviewing surveillance footage and collecting witness statements.
At this time, no suspects have been taken into custody, and authorities have not released any information regarding a possible motive.
The victim’s identity is expected to be released by the Will County Coroner’s Office once official confirmation is complete.
