The Stratford, Connecticut community and everyone who knew her are grieving the heartbreaking loss of Khristina “Terry” Sinche, a bright, loving, and compassionate 15-year-old whose life was tragically cut short while traveling with her family to Colombia to celebrate the New Year. Her sudden passing has left her parents, siblings, friends, and extended community in profound sorrow.
What began as a joyful family trip turned devastating when Khristina suddenly became seriously ill. Doctors in Colombia diagnosed her with a brain tumor, and she underwent two surgeries in an effort to treat the condition. Despite the dedication of medical teams, the severity of her illness required the difficult decision to arrange for an air ambulance to bring her to the United States for advanced care.
Upon arrival in New Haven, Khristina was admitted to Yale Children’s Hospital, where she received round-the-clock care. Tragically, despite tireless efforts, she was declared brain dead. Her family, in a remarkable act of love and generosity, chose to donate her organs, giving multiple families the priceless gift of life. This final selfless act reflects the spirit of Khristina—always kind, loving, and devoted to helping others.
Described as a sweet, vibrant, and caring girl, Khristina brought joy wherever she went. Her infectious smile, warm heart, and natural ability to brighten the lives of those around her left a lasting impression. Friends and family remember her as someone whose short life was filled with love, compassion, and a genuine desire to make a difference.
