Who Is Michael David McKee? Ex-Husband Charged in the Shocking Deaths of Monique and Spencer Tepe

A devastating double-homicide case out of Columbus, Ohio, has drawn national attention following the arrest of Michael David McKee, a 39-year-old vascular surgeon and the ex-husband of Monique Tepe. McKee now faces two counts of murder in connection with the fatal shootings of Monique and her husband, Dr. Spencer Tepe, whose bodies were discovered inside their Weinland Park home on December 30, 2025.

According to court records filed in Franklin County Municipal Court, investigators identified McKee as a suspect after tracing a vehicle captured near the Tepe residence around the time of the killings back to him. Law enforcement later located the vehicle in Rockford, Illinois, where McKee was arrested on January 10, 2026. He is currently being held at the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office while awaiting extradition to Ohio.

McKee and Monique Tepe were previously married, with their marriage beginning in 2015 and ending in divorce in 2017. Public records indicate no shared children and no widely known history of criminal incidents between the former spouses prior to this tragedy. Investigators have not yet disclosed a motive.

Professionally, McKee is believed to have worked in the medical field as a licensed vascular surgeon, with credentials reported in multiple states, including Illinois and California. However, details regarding his current employment or professional standing remain unclear as the investigation continues.

The case has deeply shaken the community, particularly due to the discovery of Monique and Spencer’s two young children—ages 1 and 4—found unharmed inside the home during the welfare check that led police to the victims. Authorities believe the shootings occurred between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m., though the weapon has not been publicly confirmed as recovered.
