Canton, OH — Authorities in Canton are urgently searching for Amir Lucas, also known as Amir “Pepe” Lucas, a 15-year-old boy accused of fatally shooting his 12-year-old brother in a heartbreaking incident that has left the community in shock.
According to the Canton Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call around 10:40 p.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026, reporting a shooting at a home in the 3600 block of Ellis Avenue NE. When police arrived, they found a 12-year-old boy inside the residence suffering from a gunshot wound.
The child was rushed to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Due to his age, the victim’s name has not been released. The devastating loss has prompted an outpouring of grief and concern throughout Canton.
Investigators quickly identified the victim’s older brother, Amir Lucas, as the suspect. Police say the teen fled the scene following the shooting, and an arrest warrant is forthcoming. Authorities have classified Lucas as an endangered missing juvenile and warn that he should be considered armed and dangerous.
