The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that around 10 p.m., a 17-year-old driver failed to stop at the stop sign at the off-ramp to Southeast Bridge Road on Interstate 95 South, pulling into the path of a westbound Range Rover. The crash occurred when the Range Rover, driven by an 18-year-old man from Hobe Sound, struck the left side of the Toyota sedan, causing the vehicle to spin and crash into a nearby waterlogged grassy area.
The crash claimed the lives of the Toyota’s driver, 17-year-old Matthew Mosby, a junior at Martin County High School, and 16-year-old Millie Ollie, his passenger. A third passenger, 13-year-old Ollie, suffered serious injuries and remains in critical condition after undergoing two life-saving surgeries at St. Mary’s Hospital. The driver of the Range Rover was unharmed, and no charges have been filed against him.
An off-duty paramedic who was on the scene provided immediate aid before first responders arrived. The crash has left the Hobe Sound community in shock, with fundraisers established to support the families of the victims. The teens’ tragic deaths have prompted an outpouring of grief as loved ones and friends remember them. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, which serves as a painful reminder of the importance of road safety.
