Indiana – GoFundMe for Children of Jeri Mains, Killed by Husband, Surpasses $50,000 in Donations

A GoFundMe campaign launched for the four children of Jeri Mains, a 44-year-old woman tragically shot and killed by her husband, has raised over $50,000 to help cover the children’s living expenses, counseling, and funeral costs. Jeri Mains was fatally shot on December 28, 2025, in the driveway of her family’s home in the 8100 block of Meadow Bend Lane in Indianapolis. The incident, witnessed by her four children—aged 19, 17, 14, and 10—has left the family devastated. The children were left to witness the violent crime, and the GoFundMe campaign aims to provide them with financial support during this tragic time. The donations have poured in from across the community, reflecting the widespread outpouring of sympathy and support for the grieving family.

Jeri Mains was shot twice in the driveway of her home, and her youngest daughter, only 10 years old, called 911 to report the shooting. The young girl told authorities that her father, Cecil Raymond Mains, 46, had shot her mother before fleeing in a gray Toyota Tundra. When officers arrived at the scene around 2:17 p.m., they found Jeri critically wounded. She was rushed to Eskenazi Hospital but was later pronounced dead. Cecil Mains was arrested shortly afterward during a traffic stop about 4.5 miles away. Law enforcement recovered a Sig Sauer .380 handgun and matching shell casings from his vehicle. He was charged with murder and is currently in jail without bond, having invoked his right to an attorney.

The shooting came just days after Jeri Mains had filed for a protective order on Christmas Day, accusing her husband of domestic violence. In her court filing, Jeri alleged that Cecil had thrown kitchen tongs at her, threatened to kill both himself and her amid their divorce discussions, and made other violent threats. According to the children, the argument escalated further when Cecil retrieved a gun from a safe. Family members remember Jeri Mains as a loving mother, known for her infectious smile and fierce devotion to her children. The family is still coming to terms with the loss, and the GoFundMe funds are being used to provide them with the support they need to navigate the aftermath of this devastating crime.

As the investigation continues and the legal process moves forward, the community remains focused on ensuring that the four children left behind by Jeri Mains receive the care and support they need. The funds raised through the GoFundMe campaign will help cover funeral expenses, therapy for the children, and other immediate living costs. Despite the tragic circumstances, the outpouring of support from friends, family, and strangers alike has given the family a glimmer of hope as they begin to rebuild their lives after such a heartbreaking loss.
