Loss Hits Hard When It’s a Coworker: Remembering Brenda Leshore, A Dedicated Member of the Dallas County Team

It always hits hard when the loss is someone you work with, someone who’s part of your daily routine even if you didn’t always interact deeply. Brenda Leshore was a coworker of mine for the last 10 years, and though we worked different shifts and didn’t have the chance to become close, she was always a positive presence in our workplace. There’s a certain bond you share with those who work alongside you for so long, even if you don’t communicate every day. Brenda brought her dedication to her job and was a reliable and hardworking member of the team at the Dallas County Jail. It’s tough to process the loss of someone who was such a steady part of our work family.

Though we didn’t have many personal conversations, it was clear from the way Brenda conducted herself that she was well-liked and respected by her peers. Over the years, we all learned to rely on each other, and Brenda was no exception. She carried herself with professionalism and grace, and that’s something that leaves an impression, even in the quietest of ways. Losing a coworker, especially someone who has been part of the team for so long, is not just a personal loss but a loss for the whole department. It’s a reminder of how fragile life is and how we often take for granted the people who are right there beside us, day in and day out.

Please keep Brenda’s family, friends, and all of the employees at the Dallas County Jail in your prayers during this difficult time. This is a hard loss not just for her loved ones, but for everyone who worked with her, especially the team at the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department. We’re all feeling the weight of this loss, and it’s important to come together and support one another. Brenda, you will be missed more than words can express. Your impact on this team won’t be forgotten. Fly high, lady! We all hope you’ve found peace.
