Kalamazoo, Michigan is reeling as a suspect has been arrested and arraigned on 25 felony charges related to a deadly shooting at Two Fellas Grill, a popular establishment in the city

A Night of Chaos: The September 20th Shooting at Two Fellas Grill

The night of September 20th was supposed to be like any other at Two Fellas Grill, a well-known spot for locals to relax and enjoy a meal. However, it quickly turned into a nightmare as a fight broke out, escalating into a violent shooting. Five people were injured—four of them shot, and the fifth struck by shrapnel. Though none of the injuries were life-threatening, the emotional trauma left behind is far more lasting.

The chaos that unfolded inside and outside the restaurant left the victims—and witnesses—grappling with what had just happened. For the community, it was a terrifying reminder of the increasing gun violence that has permeated even their once safe spaces. The owners of Two Fellas Grill had already expressed concerns about rising crime in the area, having reached out to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) in the weeks before the shooting. They had noticed troubling signs, including groups gathering in the parking lot, engaging in reckless and dangerous behavior. Despite their efforts, nothing could prevent the senseless violence that would erupt that night.

A Long Wait for Justice: The Arrest of Chamberlain

Nearly two months passed before Naledge Quincy Lovon Williams Chamberlain was arrested on November 19, 2025, in St. Paul, Minnesota. The 19-year-old, who had been on the run since the shooting, was apprehended with the help of the Michigan State Police and the St. Paul Police Department. Chamberlain was arrested after a search warrant was executed, and the authorities coordinated a detailed operation to ensure he was brought to justice.

The charges against him are severe: five counts of assault with intent to murder, 12 counts of felony firearm violations, and additional charges related to firearms discharged in or at a building. His capture and the arraignment that followed have sent a clear message to the community: law enforcement will not rest until those who commit such acts of violence are held accountable.

KDPS Chief David Boysen praised the collaborative effort that led to Chamberlain’s arrest, calling it a “coordinated effort” that used every available resource. “This is another example of when you choose to pick up a gun and be a shooter in our community, we will use every tool available,” Boysen said. But for the victims and their families, the long wait for justice has been excruciating. While the arrest is a step forward, the emotional toll of the violence is something they will carry with them forever.

A Community Healing: The Road Ahead

The arrests in connection with the Two Fellas Grill shooting have brought some closure to the victims, but healing will take time. The restaurant, which had once been a safe haven for its patrons, has implemented increased security measures in the wake of the violence. With extra officers patrolling the area on weekends and heightened awareness among the staff, the owners of Two Fellas Grill hope that the community will feel safer in the months to come.

However, for those affected by the shooting, the pain is far from over. The victims—physically and emotionally scarred by the violence—must now try to rebuild their lives after such a traumatic event. Their stories will forever be tied to the terror they experienced that night, and the road to recovery is a long one. The ripple effects of this shooting will be felt not just by the victims but by the entire Kalamazoo community.

While Chamberlain faces the consequences of his actions, the community continues to search for ways to prevent such tragedies in the future. For the families of those injured, and for all those who were affected by that fateful night, justice is only the beginning of the healing process.
