A Radiant Soul Whose Light Touched Generations
The passing of Sarah Bardin has left the Bardin family, the CESJDS community, and countless friends in profound mourning. A cherished daughter of Livia and David Bardin and a proud member of the CESJDS Class of ’88, Sarah leaves behind a legacy woven with creativity, compassion, and devotion to the people she loved most. Born in Brooklyn and later making her home in Washington, DC, Sarah grew into a gifted self-taught artist whose work captured emotion, color, and life in ways words could never fully express. Her favorite subjects—floral pieces and expressive portraits—reflected her own nature: vibrant, generous, and deeply attuned to beauty in all its forms.
Sarah’s impact extended far beyond her art. She was a grounding presence during family gatherings, a loyal friend, a supportive sibling, and a woman with a quiet but powerful influence on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her unexpected passing created a wave of grief that echoes across generations of the Bardin family, each mourning not only the loss of a loved one, but the irreplaceable warmth she brought into their lives.
A Family Bound by Love, Memory, and Unbreakable Bonds
Sarah is survived by her siblings—Matthew, Joseph, and Jacob—each of whom shared a lifelong closeness with her. Their spouses, children, and extended families formed a tapestry of love that Sarah held dearly. Her nieces and nephews—Benjamin, Tamar, Rina, Dove, and Zibia—were sources of pride and joy, and she cherished her relationships with them deeply.
The Bardin family has opened their homes for Shiva, creating space for friends, loved ones, and community members to gather, share memories, and offer support during this time of immeasurable grief. Whether meeting at the home of Jacob and Donna in Chevy Chase or at the Washington, DC residence of David and Livia, all who enter these spaces bring with them stories, tears, and heartfelt gratitude for the life Sarah lived.
The funeral will take place in New Jersey, where family and friends will honor her memory and lay her to rest—a moment that marks not only the end of a life, but the continuation of a legacy that will endure through art, love, and remembrance.
A Legacy of Beauty, Creativity, and Compassion
Sarah’s work was recognized internationally, including publication in Présence Féminine Dans L’Art Haïtien, a testament to her unique voice and artistic presence. Yet her art was only part of her story. Her compassion, her steady presence, her deep dedication to family, and her ability to connect with people on a soulful level are the pieces of her that will live on most vividly.
