A Life of Love, Faith, and Devotion
Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Annie Kot, whose passing at just 34 years old has left family, friends, and the wider community in deep sorrow. After a courageous year-long battle with a rare form of cancer, Annie passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, surrounded by the people who loved her most. In her final days, she spent eight days in the ICU in Regina, where her family remained faithfully by her side, offering comfort, prayer, and unwavering support until her final moments.
Her passing has created an immeasurable void in the lives of those who knew her. Annie’s story is one of love, resilience, faith, and dedication to others — a life lived with purpose and compassion.
From Moose Jaw Roots to a Life of Service
Born on February 22, 1992, Annie (Ann Michelle Dombowsky) was raised in Moose Jaw as the fourth of five children. From a young age, she built strong friendships and discovered a passion for serving others. Her education began at Cornerstone Christian School and continued at Central Collegiate, where she first met Joel Kot, the young man who would later become her husband.
After graduation, Annie followed her calling to ministry training in California, attending Bethel School of Ministry and completing an internship. During that time, she dedicated herself to outreach work, volunteering with seniors and participating in humanitarian efforts across Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Nicaragua. Those experiences reflected the heart of who Annie was — someone driven by compassion and a desire to make a difference wherever she went.
Returning home to Moose Jaw, Annie pursued business studies at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. During this time, she reconnected with Joel, and their love story blossomed into marriage on October 19, 2019, in New York City.
A Family Built on Love and Lasting Legacy
Annie and Joel created a beautiful life together in Moose Jaw, welcoming their daughter Gianna in November 2020 and their son Ari in May 2023. Motherhood became one of Annie’s greatest joys. She balanced family life with a career as a hairstylist, earning her Red Seal certification and bringing creativity and care to her work.
Family and friends describe Annie as deeply relational, thoughtful, and organized — someone who showed love through action. Whether offering encouragement, lending a helping hand, or simply being present, Annie made people feel seen and valued.
She is survived by her husband Joel, their children Gia and Ari, her parents Shelly and Ben Dombowsky, her siblings Matt, Mark, Louis, and Abigail, her in-laws John and Eva Kot, and many extended family members and friends. Though her life was far too short, the love she gave and the memories she created will continue to live on through all who knew her.
Funeral and memorial arrangements will be shared at a later date as loved ones continue to grieve and honor her life.
