Waupaca has lost one of its most spirited architects of kindness. Todd M. Lembcke was not just a businessman; he was a “chaser of God’s heart” who believed that every person he met deserved a smile and a helping hand. Starting Sunshine Heating in 1989 with nothing but a garage and a dream, Todd proved that engineering minds and compassionate hearts are a powerful combination. His passing at 64 feels premature for a man who still had so many stories to tell and so much “Sunshine” to give.

 

A Visionary for the Soul: Beyond the Business

While many knew Todd through his technical expertise, his true masterpiece was the restoration of the Red Mill. In 2013, he took on the monumental task of preserving this local landmark, not for profit, but to create a space where the community could experience the love of God and the beauty of nature. He was a man who looked at a broken waterwheel and saw an opportunity for renewal. His “engineering mind” allowed him to fix what was broken, but his visionary soul allowed him to see what was possible.

To his five children, Todd wasn’t just a founder or a restorer; he was a hero. His love for his wife, Sheila, and their family was the fuel for every adventure he undertook. He was famous for his catchphrase, “We are so blessed,” a mantra he lived by even on the hardest days.
