Manhunt for Riverbend Escapees
The Breach at Riverbend Detention Center
Northeast Louisiana is currently the center of a massive and urgent law enforcement operation following a significant security breach at the Riverbend Detention Center. Early Friday morning, the facility became the site of a brazen escape involving eight inmates, three of whom were being held on murder charges. This event has triggered a “massive manhunt” involving local, state, and regional agencies, all working in concert to secure the perimeter and protect the surrounding communities. The escape has sent a ripple of anxiety through the region, as residents are urged to remain vigilant while authorities work tirelessly to apprehend the individuals who have fled justice.
The Hunt for the Missing Five
While law enforcement has made swift progress, capturing three of the escapees, five individuals remain unaccounted for and are considered dangerous. The community must be aware of the identities of those still at large. They have been identified as:
-
Destin Brogan, 22
-
Kelin Looney, 21
-
Krisean Salinas, 21
-
Kevin Slaughter, 25
-
Koplelon Vicknair, 19
The presence of these individuals outside of confinement poses a serious risk to public safety. Authorities are urging citizens not to approach these men if sighted but to contact law enforcement immediately. The priority is the safe recapture of these inmates to ensure they answer for their alleged crimes and to restore peace to the neighborhoods currently under the shadow of this manhunt.
Swift Action and Partial Success
In the chaotic hours following the escape, police were able to apprehend three of the eight fugitives. Hugo Molino (27), Trenton Taplin (29), and Savon Wheeler (31) are back in custody. While details surrounding where and how they were located have not yet been released, their capture stands as a testament to the rapid response of the agencies involved. However, the mission is far from complete. The focus now remains entirely on the five men still in the wind.
A Community United in Vigilance
As the search intensifies, the residents of Northeast Louisiana are asked to lock their doors, stay aware of their surroundings, and report any suspicious activity. This is a time for the community to act as the eyes and ears of the police. We stand with the law enforcement officers putting themselves in harm’s way to resolve this situation and protect our homes.
