Houston, Texas – A heated love triangle erupted into violence earlier this month when a confrontation between two women at a Houston-area gym allegedly turned dangerous. Authorities say Aralyn Martinez, 24, was arrested after throwing a 25-pound weight plate at another woman during an altercation fueled by jealousy and personal conflict.
According to Harris County deputies, the incident occurred on January 6 at a 24 Hour Fitness location outside Houston. Officers were dispatched following a 911 call reporting an assault inside the gym. Investigators say Martinez recognized the victim, Cindy S. Aguilar, as a woman allegedly involved with her romantic partner, sparking an emotionally charged confrontation.
What began as a verbal dispute quickly escalated. Court documents state that Martinez allegedly threatened Aguilar, shouting, “I’m going to drop this 25-lb weight plate on you,” before grabbing the heavy equipment. Witnesses told police the situation unfolded rapidly, shocking nearby gym-goers as Martinez reportedly hurled the weight plate toward Aguilar’s head.
The thrown weight struck Aguilar, knocking her to the ground. Emergency responders were called to the scene, and Aguilar was transported for medical evaluation. While police said her injuries were not life-threatening, she reported significant pain and told officers she feared she could have been seriously injured or killed due to the weight and force involved.
