Nighttime Tragedy on Highway 41: Woman Killed, Two Others Injured in Lemoore Crash

Lemoore, CA — A late-night traffic collision on Highway 41 at Fremont Avenue claimed the life of a woman and left two others injured Thursday night, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The crash occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m. in the northbound lanes of State Route 41. CHP investigators reported that a 2019 Jeep Renegade, driven by a woman traveling eastbound on Fremont Avenue, entered the intersection from a posted stop sign. As the Jeep crossed the highway, it was struck by a 2013 Chrysler 300 traveling northbound on Highway 41.

Authorities determined the Chrysler had the right of way and was not required to stop at the intersection. The impact caused severe damage, and the woman driving the Jeep suffered fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The male driver of the Chrysler and an adult female passenger sustained minor to moderate injuries. Emergency responders transported the driver to Adventist Medical Center in Hanford, while the passenger was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for further treatment. Their current conditions were not immediately released.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation by CHP.

The incident highlights ongoing traffic safety concerns in Lemoore. According to 2023 data from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), the city recorded 53 total fatal and injury crash victims, ranking 63rd out of 93 similarly sized cities statewide. Among those incidents, alcohol-related crashes accounted for six victims, while pedestrians and bicyclists made up 12 victims, underscoring the risks faced by vulnerable road users. Nighttime crashes, speed-related collisions, and hit-and-run incidents also remain persistent issues.
