Tragic Hit-and-Run in Fairfax County: Demarko Shamsiddin, 34, Killed on Richmond Highway


According to Fairfax County Police, the fatal crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. when Shamsiddin was walking along the roadway. A vehicle, traveling southbound on Richmond Highway, struck him, then fled the scene without stopping to render aid or report the incident. Emergency responders arrived shortly after the crash, but despite efforts to save his life, Shamsiddin was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have launched a full investigation and are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the vehicle involved. Police believe the suspect’s vehicle may have been damaged during the crash and may be missing a side mirror or have other noticeable damage. Surveillance footage and witness statements are being reviewed to help identify the driver responsible for this senseless act.

Shamsiddin, a local resident, is remembered by family and friends as a warm, caring individual who always put others first. Loved ones describe him as a man who could light up any room with his smile and positive energy. “Demarko had a heart of gold,” said one friend. “He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.”
