Minneapolis, MN – In a revealing statement, an FBI official admitted that ICE agent Johnathan “Jon” Ross may have acted excessively in the shooting death of Minnesota mother

The incident, which occurred on December 15, 2025, when Ross, an experienced Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent, shot and killed Good during a routine operation, has sparked significant public outcry. However, the FBI official’s statement indicates that while Ross’s actions were extreme, they may not be criminally liable due to the mental and emotional toll of a past on-the-job injury. Ross was seriously injured during a confrontation with a suspect in 2023, which has reportedly left lasting physical and psychological scars.

According to the official, this prior trauma could have contributed to Ross’s reaction during the fatal encounter with Good, with the agent possibly perceiving a threat that was not immediately present. While the shooting is being investigated, the FBI official noted that Ross’s history of injuries and stress-related trauma may offer grounds for considering his use of lethal force as a reflexive response rather than intentional aggression.

Despite this, the public remains divided, with many questioning why Ross’s actions were not immediately deemed excessive. As the investigation progresses, it remains unclear whether Ross will face any legal consequences. The case has raised broader questions about the use of force by law enforcement and the mental health of agents involved in high-stress situations. The shooting death of Renee Nicole Macklin Good has left her family and the community grieving, demanding answers and accountability.
