KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Authorities have identified Keithlin Royster, an adult male, as the victim of a fatal shooting along a major Kansas City roadway on January 8, 2026. Investigators believe the shooting may have been the result of a road rage incident that turned deadly.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, officers were dispatched just before 11:20 a.m. to the area of 71 Highway and Blue River Road after receiving reports of a shooting. When deputies arrived, they found Royster inside a vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite attempts to provide assistance, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigations suggest the shooting could have stemmed from a road rage altercation, though details remain unclear. Authorities are still working to determine where the confrontation began and what led to the tragic outcome. Law enforcement officials have been canvassing areas of 71 Highway, from Gregory Boulevard to the crime scene, in hopes of finding evidence that will help piece together the chain of events.
