Update on Bentley: Severe Influenza A Diagnosis with Congenital Heart Disease and Fluid Sensitivity Complicates Recovery

Bentley’s condition remains critical, and the latest updates are deeply concerning. His fever refuses to break, and despite all efforts, his heart rate remains elevated. This has been a challenging and exhausting period for Bentley and our family, as we try to navigate the complications arising from his illness. After further tests and lab work, it has been confirmed that Bentley has contracted Influenza A, a diagnosis that is extremely worrying, especially considering his preexisting health conditions. He has congenital heart disease, which complicates his body’s ability to respond to infections, and he is highly sensitive to fluid build-up. What might appear to be a routine flu for others can be life-threatening for Bentley.

The combination of Influenza A with Bentley’s specific medical needs is creating a dangerous situation. For most people, the flu might feel like a bad cold or an inconvenience, but for Bentley, it is more complicated and risky. His heart condition puts additional stress on his cardiovascular system, and the sensitivity to fluid retention makes it even harder to manage his symptoms. His doctors are monitoring him closely, but the situation remains unpredictable. Every day is a battle, and Bentley’s health is in constant flux. We are doing everything we can to support him and make sure he gets the medical care he needs to survive this illness.

As we navigate this challenging time, we ask for continued prayers and support from our community. We know Bentley is a fighter, and he has shown incredible strength throughout his life, but this illness is a tough opponent. We are holding onto hope and trusting in his doctors to help guide him through this difficult time. While we are still very much in the fight, Bentley’s health is a top priority, and we are doing everything in our power to support his recovery. Please keep him in your thoughts, and we will provide more updates as the situation evolves. Thank you to everyone who has reached out with love, support, and prayers during this critical time.
